Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information VEYDEX collects, who can see it, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain on purpose.

What's public

Anyone, including people who aren't logged in, can see:

• your username, display name, profile photo (if you add one), school, graduation year, and bio;
• your Verified student badge, Plus badge, and the clubs you belong to;
• your VEYDEX Score, win rate, number of calls, and leaderboard rank;
• whether your calls beat or lagged the market (wins and losses), and the reasons you wrote;
• the tally of peer reviews clubmates leave on your closed calls; and
• your name, school, and score on the leaderboard of any public competition you enter.

What only you and recruiters see

Your exact returns, every call in your history, your detailed statistics, and your LinkedIn link are visible only to you and to recruiters with a paid plan. Members of your clubs can also see exact results on calls shown on the club page and in private club pitch-offs. If you're a Plus member and upload a portfolio, paying recruiters can view and download it.

Recruiters

• Recruiters with a paid plan can search student records and see the exact information described above.
• They can send you a message only if you turn on “Open to recruiter contact” in Settings. It's off by default.
• They never see your email address unless you accept their message. If you accept, we share your email with that recruiter and theirs with you.
• They never see your school email, password, or payment details.
• When a recruiter opens your full record, we record the view. You can see how many recruiters viewed you; Plus members can also see each recruiter's name, title, and company.

Competition sponsors

If you finish near the top of a sponsored competition and you've turned on “Open to recruiter contact,” the sponsor may receive your name, school, competition score, profile link, and LinkedIn link. We don't share your email address with sponsors.

What we collect

• Account info: email address, password (stored securely by our authentication provider; we never see it), whether you're in high school, college, or graduated, and confirmation that you're 13 or older (with a parent or guardian's permission if you're under 18).
• Profile and activity: the profile details you add, your calls, reviews, comments, club memberships, competition entries, and messages you send or receive on VEYDEX.
• School email: if you verify a school email address, we store it privately to prevent one school email from verifying multiple accounts. It's never shown publicly.
• Recruiter accounts: name, job title, company, company website, work email, and which student records were viewed.
• Portfolios: if you're a Plus member, any portfolio PDF, summary, and link you upload.
• Payment info: handled by Stripe. We store your subscription status, but never your full card number.
• Usage and security info: IP address and basic device info, used for rate limiting, fraud prevention, and fixing bugs.

How we use it

• to run the Service: create and score calls, show your record, and run clubs and competitions;
• to send account emails, like verification codes, “your call closed” notices, and recruiter messages;
• to process subscriptions; and
• to keep the Service secure and fair.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising. We don't use advertising cookies.

Service providers

We use trusted providers to run VEYDEX. They may process your data only to provide their service to us:

• Supabase (database, file storage, and login)
• Vercel (website hosting)
• Stripe (payments)
• Resend (email)
• Financial Modeling Prep (market data; no personal data is shared)

We may also share information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, calls, portfolio, messages, and other personal data. Copies in backups are removed on our normal schedule, and we may keep limited records (like payment records) when the law requires it.

Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls at the database level, private file storage, and limits on sign-ups and logins. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Your choices

• See and export: download your data as JSON or CSV in Settings.
• Correct: edit your profile any time. (Calls can't be edited; that's what keeps records honest.)
• Control contact: turn “Open to recruiter contact” on or off, and decline any message.
• Delete: delete your account in Settings. This permanently deletes your profile and all of your calls.

California privacy rights

If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to access and correct it, to have it deleted, and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We don't sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law. Use the tools in Settings or email ethangbell1@gmail.com to make a request.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and to remember your light or dark mode choice. We don't use advertising cookies.

Age

VEYDEX is for people 13 and older. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission to use it. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13; if we learn we have, we delete it. High school accounts can't be messaged by recruiters.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll let you know by email or on the site before they take effect.
